Peppermint, Mentha x piperita, is a soothing aromatic with primary effects on the nervous system, stomach, and colon. It is an excellent ingredient in formulas for acute ailments. It settles the stomach, expels gas, and has a milk palliative effect on colds, fevers, and headaches.
Peppermint can increase heartburn and symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease in some people.
This can be taken as an infusion, tincture, or glycerite.
