Plantain, Plantago major, is a common lawn and garden weed that is a valuable remedy for bruises, insect bites, and injuries when applied topically. Plaintain is used internally for ulcers, inflammatory bowel disorders, and coughs. It is helpful for drawing sticky phlegm out of the lungs, especially when combined with grindelia.
