Willow Bark, Salix alba, has long been used for pain, fevers, and inflammation. Its active compound, salicin, is the original source of the synthetic derivative aspirin. The action of white willow bark is much slower than that of the synthetic drug but is less likely to cause stomach problems. Willow takes about several hours before relief is felt. It generally works best at easing pain when combined with other pain-relieving herbs.
Warnings: Do not use if pregnant.
